Director, lyricist and producer Dayaram Dahal has been appointed as the chairman of the Film Development Board, the highest body in the Nepali film industry.
After the untimely demise of Keshav Bhattarai, a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday appointed Director Dahal as the chairman of the board for two years. He is also a member of the current Film Development Board.
Dahal, who has been active in the film industry for 32 years, had a passion for art since childhood.
Before his direction, he used to go to sing songs and do dramas on the radio around 2041 BS.
From his birthplace Kavre, he used to sing in Radio Nepal's Chautari and children's programs. After passing the SLC in 2043 BS and entering Kathmandu, he became interested in directing.
A review of how memorable Dahal's two-year tenure on the Film Development Board will be will be after his resignation.
However, in this time of crisis, there are huge mountains of challenges facing Director Dahal, who has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board. May his tenure be remembered by the film industry forever, best wishes.
