Kathmandu: Disputes within the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) have reached a climax. In the ongoing meeting of the standing committee, there is a demand for the resignation of both the Prime Minister and the party chairperson.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had said on Asad 14 that a strategy was being formulated to topple the government over the Nepal-India border dispute. Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have come under siege over the same statement.
"As the resignation of Prime Minister Oli has become the agenda of the Dahal-Nepal group, we will not back down from it," said a standing committee member close to Dahal. "It simply came to our notice then. We have been raising the issue for a long time, "he said. So in the current situation, we are not in the mood to back down. '
After Prime Minister Oli held consultations with leaders and ministers close to him on Wednesday, President Dahal's Nepal Group held a discussion at Ageno Restaurant in Jamsikhel, Lalitpur on Wednesday evening.
A leader who attended the meeting said that the strategy was to force Oli to resign from both the prime minister and the party chairman.
"Oli is committed to following the party system and the party's direction," he said. The meeting concluded that if one is ready to move forward in accordance with the party's decision, one of the two posts can be retained, 'said the leader.
